Texture Finding Troubles

Ello people. I was wondering, is there an easy way of finding textures/materials from objects without having to go into the Texture window and match textures up? Cause every now and then I have trouble finding certain textures, which leads to countless hours of sifting through the hundred of textures and matching things up.

So I was just wondering if there was an option, or an easier way of finding out what texture is used on a certain wall, or a certain trim, or something?

if you open the texture application tool, THEN click on the wall in question, it gives you the name of the texture being used on that wall. Then you can get an exact match almost instantly by typing in a chunk of the name and it gives you the texture matching what you entered, wha-la.

also remember to type "tf" in the keyword line, it cuts off all the hundreds of HL2 textures. Because people cry when you spend forever working on a map, then you post it, and to our horror we see HL2 textures. It incinerates a baby kitten somewhere in the world every time it happens. Plus it just plain helps cut down the number of textures you gotta look through.

That I already knew ;) I was just wondering if there was a way to cut my "searching time" in half. Which you've provided. And for that I thank you again, now I don't have to go sifting and sampling to find the texture I want for a window, or some dirt xD
