Ugh. Jarate. The gameplay aspects are neat, the fact that it's a jar of piss and was originally an April fool's joke, is not.

I actually really like the positive effect it has on clearing fire from your team mates. I was wondering if they'd make the sniper have a sort of buff gun/long range healer to really give a new option of play, but this is a pretty interesting twist as well.

I wonder what it will be like for the player getting hit though. Probably horrific.

It's like the BONK! Energy Drink. It's just totally random and uncalled for. The features are interesting, but that's it. Should've been cobra blood or some other cool tribal/hunter type thing to go with the Tooth Belt Hat and The Razorback.

Oh well. At least it doesn't stun. The extinguishing is neat, but I don't care much for generalizing the classes and giving them all these random gimmicks. At this rate:
  • Pyro will be able to compression blast rocks in order to erode them and make tunnels.
  • Spy will be able to stuff his cigarette case with gunpowder and throw it, like a cluster bomb.
  • Pyro can heat the Jarate jars to turn the piss into raw minerals.
  • Engineer can build forges to smelt the raw minerals into enchantments for melee weapons yayayaya RPG elements!11oneone!
  • Demoman can throw poop bombs (shamelessly taken from a Steam forum post).
I'm scared.

? You guys didn't expect this?

Wow. Anyways, I find it to be perfectly OK. I guess I just find the fact that the sniper is using urine, something he makes on his own due to bodily functions, as a makeshift weapon. I think it works into the "loner" style, the kind who camps for days at a spot to get the kill.

I guess I have different views though, as I find urine as normal as glucose or oxygen. Biology can do strange things to a person's views.

Spies, urine trouble

No, srsly, kinda disappointed with all the 'special effect' weapons, imo that works against the core gameplay in a FPS

Valve could have seriously tried to be more creative, instead of just going for lulz

got this off of another forum:

"Agreed.....

....It's pretty juvenile all over to consider aesthetics more important than function. I'd say more juvenile than a jar of piss."

I agree with this guy ^

It's a joke, people. Like most of TF2. Remember that you also blow up people into chunks and blood goes flying everywhere.

it's a sad day when people think urine is more disgusting than blood/chunks of people :(

I think it's pretty funny. For the people who think it is random, it's not. Remember the meet the sniper? It fits him pretty well, and makes sense.

Also, the update post was hilarious.

I'll say what I keep saying over and over again. Don't judge the damn changes until you try them. Everyone gets all riled up over these things, eventually getting to the point where they just EXPECT them to be poor additions, so they don't give them a chance.

I'm going to go on a limb here and say that 35% damage might be a bit excessive. That's the difference between taking 2 pipes/rockets/stickies to kill you or 1 pipe/rocket/stickie killing you. But I will reserve judgement till we get our hands on it.

Also, this thing better have a very short range on it or else snipers will just sit next to a dispenser and spam this.

And finally, what's up with Valve making melee weapons that have ranged attack. Kinda paradoxical don't you think?

But at least this seems more useful then the razorback, which is probably the biggest piece of shit valve ever made.

OK, the first time I posted I was still a little angry about how the Spy has become an uber badass, and the Sniper sort of got degraded a little. But after thinking about it a little, hilarity could ensue after throwing jars of piss on people... I mean, we all DID think it was hilarious as an April Fool's joke. I'll reserve final judgment until I've used the Jarate myself ;)

A few more things.

1. Will the jarate or the razorback be in the melee weapon's slot.

2. The huntsman better be good for the sake of sniper's everywhere.

3. These weapons are more gimmicky then the scout's update. The weapons seem to get more gimmicky after every update.

The sniper now has a scar on his left cheek.

EDIT: And look at those sexy saw blades in the background.

It's only lame in that it's taking the place of what could have been a cooler weapon.

Should've been cobra blood or some other cool tribal/hunter type thing to go with the Tooth Belt Hat and The Razorback.

And I think that would have been a cooler weapon. It would have done the same thing but fit the theme a bit better.

But I'm not too upset or anything. Sniper and Spy are my two least-played classes. I'm still more worried about dealing with spies anyway. I'm interested in seeing if Jarate and the hunting bow will draw many snipers in closer, though.
