OK - created a stone block, made a func door that rises, and parented a prop dynamic to it.

Compiled - stone block rises but is black - wtf??

The texture is NOT a prop model texture, all shadows have been turned off and receiving shadows disabled on the func_door and the prop dynamic....

.....still a black bllock!

Can anyone help here?

It is driving me round the bloody bend! :cursing:

Cheers in advance
Nosher.

...maybe the origin of the prop and the origin of the func_door are exactly the same?

Also,

I use nodraw for func_door that have props parented to them, try changing the stone to nodraw.

A func_door that raises... it raises open or it raises to shut off a path ? If it's the later, you wouldn't have created it inside the ground, thus preventing from being lit, would you ?

Nice one dude - you got it !!

Now sorted with a VERY dubious workaround!!!

I don't know what the "dubious workaround" is, but isn't the correct solution to create an "info_target" entity at the position where the prop will be when it's visible, then set the "lightingorigin" keyvalue of the prop to the name of the info_target?

The easiest way is just put the door in it's closed position with "spawn open" under the key valveus. Then compile so it's properly lit.
