Bergspitze is set in a stormy, alpine environment. It is a small 3cp push map and is perfect for 6 - 12 players. It has been completely remade from the ground up, neater brushwork, generally a more solid start.

This is part of my project To-Get-Shit-Done™ It's basically where I am going to get 3 of my projects, old and new to a beta release by the end of this year:
CTF_Arid - will probably be re-done completely with a new layout, so no contest entry for me.
CP_Bergspitze - One of my older projects that got lost in the wind, nothing really was wrong with it to begin with.
ARENA_Midgetzpq - Now no longer having zpqrei on board, I will finish this map as my own endeavour.

Alpha 1 Released!

I would like Alot of feedback on sizes, layout, paths, and anything else major that needs reworked.

I am fine with making major changes to the two bases, but the middle point, I feel, has alot of potential, both in gameplay and detail.

The map has 3 control points and thus is very compact. I am hoping this will be a back and forth battle, without too much engy turtles.

Alpha 2 Released!

We have done major work all over this map, to hopefully balance it more. Icluding adding setup times for people to be prepared, elongating the cap times to make it more of a battle, and redoing the spawn rooms.

The map has 3 control points and thus is very compact. I am hoping this will be a back and forth battle, without too much engy turtles.

This map was really fun to play on.

Here are suggestions.

--Mark the capture zones for the side caps.

--Try to explain invisible walls better (not invisible?)

--Move health/ammo to more visible, accessible locations (ex: the two sets in the corner tunnels near the center cap point should be moved to the point where those tunnels start, so that players in the central area can see them).

Don't close the gates after setup. They get in the way and give away your position.
Ammo/health was fine to me.
And try to do something about that looooong underground corridor, it should bend or twist somehow

Is it bad I'm working on this and necroing my thread? I dunno, I always wanted to go back to this.

I have re-made the whole thing, neater, on grid and slightly less weird. Taken me approx 2 hours to do. Since it's essentially the same layout, I'll have a couple of alphas to see what needs done but I'm hoping that this could go beta soon.... *cough*

Just need to add the entities and finish off the dev texturing and mitering of corners.

we had a quick test, thoughts? There didn't seem to be any glaring big things as nobody really complained much :p

went well. I AM a better demoman though. I dont like the last point, seems to bare. I like the mid cap point though.

there weren't any big bugs, and it was pretty fun, but here are some comments:

  • The area above the medium healthpack at the third point made me mad as a soldier. It has a skybox wall, so rockets don't detonate when they hit it, and it's higher than the rest of the area around the middle point, so it was impossible to hit people with splash damage at all.
  • there was almost no height variation anywhere but the middle points.
  • there were no signs, so i got lost once
  • it's too easy to spawncamp the spawns. it's just one opaque door, visible from the 3rd cp, so the people leaving the spawns have a good chance of dying the second they leave the spawn

other than those, it was quite fun
