The Spy Update de-cloaks?!

Yeah, I'm leaning toward the Sniper stuff being real. Because the new maps were real, right? And they did have that arrow demonstration post, like Fearlezz said.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's just to show that the spy has taken over. I'm expecting the sniper to retaliate at some point.

Also, the sniper...might get a knife update, too? So there's 3 more days for spy weapons, which is why the update is pushed back?

Although the update is listed as the Spy update now, I guess we all agree that it's a double update (Sniper stuff is still listed as day 1 & 3). Let's do some math: Update time has been pushed back to 21st.

So we have another four days for:
Sniper unlock 3
Spy unlock 1 and 2
and... hopefully custom maps.

Still missing on that list: A "Meet the ..." video, achievements and something about the hats.

I'm really sure that Robin Walker said that the sniper won't receive his update alone. And they would have removed the sniper related stuff if it was all a fake, wouldn't they? I don't know what to think now.

Actually, that's one part where I'm totally confused. What exactly was the Spy update? We are given 2 new items, so does that mean that each are a new unlockable, or is the "cloak and dagger" watch a replacement for the existing cloak so that the ammo refill cloak will actually no longer exist as an option?

When I first read the update, I thought we were given the fake death thing as a replacement for either the sapper or the gun (probably the sapper), and the standing still cloak as a replacement for the existing cloaking device (meaning, the existing ammo refilling device will be no more). Both new items are "spy watches", which to me means they occupy the same weapon slot. If that's the case, then either the spy gets a choice between 3 spy watches, or the existing spy watch (cloak that refill with ammo) is gone.

HOWEVER, after thinking about that, I don't see the fake death spy watch as even been remotely useful if it meant you replaced your cloak with it. How can a spy exist without his cloak? My main class is spy, and I could never see myself playing spy without the ability to cloak.

HOWEVER TIMES 2, we still don't know what the spy's other unlockable(s) are. As such, perhaps a new unlockable will make the spy more viable without cloak, thus making the sacrifice of cloak for fake death easier to swallow.

HOWEVER TIMES 3, I have no friggin clue, but I'm giddy with excitement because just about every scenario I can think of still means cool updates for the game!

EDIT: I totally forgot to reference the quote! The reason I went off on all my "howevers" was to basically say that if for Phobos' timeline to be correct, the day 4 update would have only introduced us to one new unlockable, leaving 2 more for the spy. Many people think it's actually two different unlockables, leaving just one more unlockable for both the spy and the sniper.

God I hate that Valve plays with out minds. Atleast they are making a hella come back.

Has anyone noticed that Valve is uncharacteristically on-time with the page updates? Like, 2pm daily, it's there.

Wonder if this will be true on release day?

The Valve guys must have the time of their life with this update.

I still suspect the shield may be fake, just made to be a lead-in to the spy. My reasoning: it doesn't seem like an end-quality model. Like they just made the shape and slapped a concept art skin on it, and never did any of the fancy lighting maps.

Yes, it is a sniper and spy update at the same time. However, it does get me wondering if there will be any community maps coming in with this update. Maybe there will be only two more spy unlockables, one sniper unlockable and then for the last day, community map/maps and hats!

i think they do the best thing possible
imagine:
only sniperupdate: you see people only through your scope
only spyupdate: you see nobody, perhaps some occasional shimmering

would be the least funny updates if done seperately

I for one love it when Valve pulls this kind of thing. It's pretty funny and keeps us guessing, plus the spy update.

Perhaps the camera beard will be a hat item? If only...

VALVe, you have outdone yourselve. This is going to be fun, i hope that the sniper update really isn't fake. I think it couldn't be, because then the double payload would be gone...

I think in next update there will be naked sniper behind that blu spy posing like this. Reason why he is naked is because blue spy backstabbed doll with red sniper clothes. Also now sniper will get boumerang replacement for his machete. Also there could be some grass coming from his pants.
