oh well, shit happens. I think i did click that and actually needed to check something on the steam site anyways so i guess this was my bad hehe. What can they do with hijacked accounts other than take more accounts?

This happened to me recently. I got a chat request from a person who was in a small group of friends through steam. Same deal too. Win games from something or another.

Through it all I found that Steam had some of the best online support I've ever dealt with. I emailed them with emails showing proof of purchase of games through steam, and had my acccount returned back to me in less then 24 hours.

Don't worry my friends gave me a lot of ribbing over this considering I've been an online gamer for years, and never did anything that stupid. I guess I had a blonde moment.

Good luck getting your account back.

My account got hacked once. Surprisingly. Don't know how it happened. No one goes on my account and i never click links i don't trust/look conspicuous. Infact this was way before i used Steam for any sort of networking.

Just one day found i couldn't access my account. Although it was kinda odd that after ticketing steam about it i got an email telling me to send them a scan of a CD-key of one of my games, i sent one back saying it'll be a while, i needed to get them from the attic of my old house. Listed a few games on my list that the CD-kays would be from and the next thing i know i get an email back saying my new password and to change it again. So that was a little too easy but.. meh.

I had a wave of this in a former clan I used to admin.

As a result of this, I ended up just not trusting any steam links. especally if its in referance to free games.
