Custom HUD Elements?

I know you can create your own icons for a control point, but how do you go about adding a completely new element to the HUD? Specifically, I'd like to have some sort of bar that would be displayed below the icon for a single control point, and it would then reflect a how much time is left on a timer I have. Does anyone know how I would go about doing this?

It would be wonderful to have a tool we could use to do it, but unfortunately we do not.

I think the best thing you're gonna get is some sort of updating-text-display system working.

like the one in dom_complex, and here's a prefab for the dom_ gametype:
