Grid issue when transfering .vmf file between 2 people

Hey all,
I'm working on a map with a couple of other people and we are having some grid issues. I worked on my section of the map, sent it to another member, and when he put loaded my section into his, a bunch of brushes were messed up. The same happened when he sent me the put together .vmf and I loaded it onto my computer.

And it's not just that certain things go off the grid, but they get resized too. For example, a brush that is 192 high will sometimes end up being something like 192.8 or 191.5, you get the idea.

Anyone know what might be causing this? The only possibility I thought up was that it may be because I'm using the beta SDK source, while he is using the normal one. We haven't tested this yet though.

Any thoughts?

could be a few things i think..

1. If he/you built on a different grid size (say 2/4) and he/you sent it to him/you who is building on (say 8/16) Hammer will snap the level to whichever grid it can providing snap to grid is on.

2. Mostly the same as above but if one of you has bad brushwork *IE CLIPPING!* it will go off-grid and try to snap *see above*

I'm working on the default grid size. I assume he's doing the same, but I'll check it out.

Also, even if that caused brushes to snap and go off grid, why would that resize them?!?!

Hm, i've had this problem with a friend when working on DoD maps. I kinda feel a bit guilty for constantly having a go at him now, if this is a common issue in the transference of vmf's.

Is it by MSN by any chance? I don't believe i've had this issue transfering via email. But i can't remember for sure.

For the record, grid settings are stored in the VMF and are independent from map to map when you have more than one open. So the recipient would have the sender's settings when he opened the map.

We've been passing the file to each other through a dropbox, so I don't THINK it's the transfer process itself that corrupts or messes up the files. I really have no clue yet, still looking around though.

Are these regular square brushes, or do they use weird angles?
