making models with solidworks

I am a mechenical design student and i mostly design with programs such as solidworks and the good thing of solidworks is that you can set the detail depth.
And it is very easy to make structure models not organic models.
I can export from solidworks to blender and make sort of a uv map of it.
But then it goed wrong i can't export the blender model.
It works with the example block so it is my model thats not good enought :(

I can make an wrml file does any one have any ideas what is the best way to go from wrml to smd?

Well I use maya as an artist and my dad uses solidworks as an engineer. I have taken models from solidworks to maya as .obj's IIRC. Have you tried exporting from solidworks to the free softimage mod tool? I haven't used it but it should support exporting to a valve file more easily than from blender.

PS. I am assuming you are trying to export from Blender for use in hammer and not back to solidworks?

yes i you got it right i want to export from solidworks to hammer i now use blender because I am familliar with that program.
I am going to look into that softimage mod tool i thought it was a sort of 3dsmax clone so it should not be to hard.

Valve uses xsi for their models so yea, use that. I use my 3dsMax 9 smd exporter.
