Custom Payload Playtesting

We have a payload rotation server (tf2newbs.com #7) where we run badwater and goldrush and custom payload maps. We regularly test new payload maps to find additional ones for our rotation. I have a long list of custom maps we could test, but if any mappers want to join us, I will prioritize their map.

I'd like to point out that if you get enough interest and post here what maps you'll be playing (from our community), I can add an event notice for it to the Steam group.

Taraph, you posted on my discussion about Oversea and i reconsidered. I'm giving you the option to test my map if you want to. The fact still stands that it's a little incomplete and i've heard rumor there is a capture bug where the cart just gives people random points. But the map does function, i think i sounded a little too negative about it in the discussion thread. But if you are looking for any maps to test i'll offer mine as any feedback and even demo videos if people are willing to record them would help me greatly in 2 ways, learn my mistakes to make better maps in the future since this IS my first map ever, and supply me with enough video to finish my school project in which i have to make a video about my map.

Let me know if you do really want to test it, if your gameday is the 28th i can maybe have the renamed file uploaded by then.

OK, These are the maps I have scheduled to test:
Railway
Reverb
Arroyo
Vipers Den
SAguaro
Frontier
Oversea

If the mapper of one of these shows up to the playtest, I will prioritize their map while they are there. :) Depending on how long each of these play, we may run out of time before we can get to all of these. Also, I will pretest these to make sure they don't crash the servers.

@Snark - I'd love for you to announce it on your steam group.

Hey taraph, i renamed my file. Should be good to go now and match the normal naming conventions, it's the same link as before i just updated the file attached to the link.

I think I can finish railway_a1, but it will be full bright and I have allot of homework to do so can it be at the very start? (9:00 PM central time) Also when do I have to get the map to you by?

I would prefer to have it by Monday so I can quicktest it on the server and provide dl to the community.

so...how often do you actually play customs on the server? all I saw was goldrush while I was there <_<

taraph, i'm hearing there is a capture bug with my map...probably some newby mistake i don't know how to fix or what's causing it. Your call whether to run the map but it seems the cart is wiggin' out and slapping points around where it shouldn't. Plus i apparently made a large oversight and used some HL2 textures and items aaaand that's just silly of me but i just never thought to catch it or realize what i was doing.

Hi MrAlBobo-The server is based on rtv/nominates so the map is whatever the group votes for (it has badwater, goldrush, and probably about 10-12 custom maps on the vote list).

The regulars like to vote for custom maps, but a lot of first-timers like to stick to stock maps. I'm running a contest in May to try to get people to play more of the custom maps and I'm trying to find more custom maps that we like enough to put on the rotation.

Stovepipe is probably the favorite custom map on there right now, because it's easy and quick to learn and it's fun (ala badwater). But, yeah, I definitely want to encourage more of the custom map game play because they are fun, we just need players who are willing to be lost for a few minutes while they figure the map out.

A lot of the custom payload have a buggy cart - especially if it goes through hallways or tunnels. I'm not sure if that's the same as what you're talking about. I'll probably pass for now - but I would still love to run it in a future playtest.

yeah...i nominated stovepipe, but the rtvs never got past 3 people supporting it...

id also be inclined to suggest you lower the mp_timelimits, i recall that goldrush had a 90min timer, try dropping that to 60 or even 45 and a few more customs will show up...probably

and uhh...don't say stovepipe is fun because its like badwater...as...I don't like badwater
