well, im a bit disappointed. I dont think I will be able to finish my map for the contest. Had 14 hours of work into it too... I found out this morning I will be leaving the country after a 4 month training which i apparently start in 3ish weeks. So, i have a lot of other schtuff i have to get do. Damn real world is getting in the way of all my fun :)

I may just through a enviro light in and compile so yall can see what I was going to submit...

Hahaha, well best of luck to you and may everything go well and keep you safe.
You could through a light_env in there if ya wanted to.
How long as you expected to be gone?
You could always save it for another contest that could be similar.

Damn I'm trying to get some good idea but all i can think about is how the 3D skybox should look like :/

Then you're a bit out of luck. No 3D Skybox allowed. First or second rule.

Also, I hath discovered how to create my "Woods" theme without using any custom content. Since framerate doesn't matter, I can use as many tree models of any type as I want. I am going to enjoy this. :D

VBulletin's automatic removal of previous quotes leads to you mistakenly think I am mistaken :D I am well aware of rule #1 that forbids 3D skyboxes, but BladeMasterPsi had quoted rule #3 instead, which is what I inteded to point out.

Mmmmmh that does sound obfuscated now. :s

Dang a full year, that pretty much sucks balls! Can't wait to see what you had planned for us though!

Ohhh geeze... well i would just make them all func_detail and you shouldn't have a framerate problem! :)

well, its not 100%, but i am including the splash txt file in the file so yall know what else I had planned. Even as it is, i consider it my best work. Combined a lot of small concepts I have used over the years, things i learned from the last contest and then turned the volume notch up and took a trip to egypt (or is that saying too much).

oh well, i got inspired by someone comment about how egypt doesnt have any team coloring and ran with that to prove the textures dont have to be the source of the team coloring. too bad i ran out of time to get the final effect. :)

will get it submitted with the vmf once it finishes compiling.

Yes, yes... my map frightens you yet you have not seen it nor have I have even worked on it. Yep, I have that effect on people with my maps.

And, mah boi, Props can't be Func_Detail'd... as far as I know. Framerate does not matter as long as it makes for some pretty screenshots!

o0o0o0o0o I didn't know you were using props, and only 1 screenshot is going to be taken so that way it isn't finally judged on just screenshots. It's more about going in game and looking around at everything to see the absolute detail incorporated. :\

Well then, enjoy your -9000 Framerate, everyone-who-decides-to-zoom-around-in-my-map.

I don't know if other people would like this, but I have a request. When the competition is over and the maps are being made for download, can you number the folders that they will come in, so that the maps are in order as they will appear in the voting pole? That way, it's easy to view each map one by one, and in the order that they appear on the pole.

Either that, or order the pole alphabetically.

:D

Epic, definatly epic...well, at least to a computer thats 6 years old. at that point, compiling anything is an epic ordeal. Hell, just booting it can be. Na, just 30 min for the compile. My entry for the last map took 3 hours.

You mean everyone?? I'm posting the screenshots you're asked to submit, but I'm not going to say which belong to who. so evryone will have to open your map to vote for it. Make sure you cater to them otherwise you'll lose votes!

For anyone who thinks opening ALL the entries is too much hard work (You lazy bums):
You have a week to do it, say there are 20 entries, at 5 minutes per entry it works at 100 minutes total, and that spread over the 7 days allowed for voting thats about 15 minutes per day. Nice and manageable.

I wonder how many total contenders there are already?
Hopefully the same amount as last time!
