Cyclic Capture Point Map

Has anyone tried doing a cyclic capture point map? Or has anyone played on one? I started thinking of the concept but then found out the the dev wiki has a few pages on it: Cyclic_Capture_Points, Creating_CCP_maps, Ccp_mechanics.

The basic concept I have is you have 6 CPs set in a circle. CPs 1, 2, and 3 are owned by Red. CPs 4, 5, 6 are owned by Blue. You can only capture a CP when the previous CP is owned by your team. So in the above example, Blue can only capture CP1 (since it already owns CP6). Red can only capture CP4 since it already has CP3. In order to win, your team needs to own all 6 CPs. SO you need to have enough offense to capture points while keeping enough defense to prevent the other team from doing the same.

Has anyone played or tried to create this kind of map?

I googled a few pages that mentioned cp_circlejerk and it looks like its a 4 point version. I'll have to download it and check it out. Thanks.

I enjoyed cp_circlejerk, at least for its concept. I think the two big problems it ran into were people setting up sentries outside of their spawns (causing the opposing team to get spawn camped when they won the point), and the general problem with players expecting a CP map to be nothing but offense, so nobody would defend, and the map would just go in circles with no winner.

I made circlejerk, it was more to test the concept and just be goofy. It is a fun map and the CCP mechanics are sound. Hovis has refined the mechanics and has a prefab and I'm sure he'd be willing to share it. I haven't seen him on in forever though, so good luck getting ahold of him.

I agree with the last two posts.

It was kindof silly, kindof fun and kindof confusing for some.

It's funny seeing 2 teams running a circle and recapping points over and over and almost noone dieing.

I quickly learned the thing to do was go counter-clockwise and kill all the unsuspecting team while my team was going clockwise and capping. :D

I have been working on one like that. It's only 4 points though, so hopefully the teams won't just be running in circles the whole time.

I can't find a copy of ccp_mechanics anywhere. So, I made my own version of ccp from scratch. (And, from what I saw of Hovis commenting on his I/O connections, I may have done it simpler.)

If anyone wants a copy of the test map I made, let me know. If I should make a tutorial, let me know. It's not really that hard.

CCP sounds like a fun concept though. Congratulations Hovis on the idea! :D
