Hello again!

cp_glacier is a map with the same gamemode as Valve's Gravelpit, set in a custom snow theme I have been working on for a while now.

All of the following screenshots are from Alpha 4

Since it's an alpha, it is not detailed yet. Right now I'm testing the gameplay.

not seen ctf_icefield? hehe, the two guys are making an ice themed pair of maps.

I respect you enough to not critique on screenshots alone but C does look a little bland...

Looks pretty cool ace (thumbup1) I await eagerly.

Yeah, C looks and plays in a very bland way.
I will need some more testing before I know how to save the area.

I might make an arena map in the snow/ice theme too, so cp_frostbite might get used :)

Played this on 2f2f last week (I think) and it was really fun to be in a new environment.
But I fell into the same deathwater pit atleast 3 times, at B area near the B-A connector (visible on the overview). Everything was so white I couldn't see the pit, maybe add a that sign with a skull logo or another visual mark (hazard tape) so I can keep track of where it is by just recognizing that "thing".

I haven't played enough to give real gameplay feedback yet.

I'm really liking the art work. I feel you're missing a great opportunity on CP B of setting up the CP on the highest glacier, that really feels like it would be great.

Looks nice. Maybe to spice up C, have the point hanging over the edge of the mountain a bit?

Yeah, C is quite boring, it needs to be modified alot.
I don't think it's too good to have it even further away for blue, it's better to move it closer to them I believe.

The thing that I'm unsure of here is your theme for the buildings...? What are the specific points supposed to be? C looks like a chalet, B a glacier, and A perhaps a research station? Maybe you could rework the theme to be like an antarctic research station (BLU) attacks a nearby Chalet opened on the adjacent mountain by RED. ^^

This looks quite nice, and I'm eager to try it out. If I might ask, what servers have this at the moment for playtesting? (there's no way I'm playing on 2f2f) As soon as there is a public release I'll be adding this to my server most definitely.

As it's still an alpha, I haven't done the detailwork to really show what A and C will be. Like you said, A is supposed to be the entrance to an underground research center, B is a glacier like place, and C is at the edge of a cliff with some wooden buildings. I am thinking of remaking C completely.

Not exact, but similar.
Gravelpit have two entrances from blue's spawn area to A, and two entrances to B aswell.
There is a reason they designed it like this.
  • Having only one entrance to an area will make it very easy for the red team to predict where they will come from and how they will attack.
  • Having more than two entrances will increase the complexity of the map, and one exit will most likely end up being unused, as it doesn't give you the same advantage as the other exits.
