Hey guys. I wanted to record a gameday of my map with Fraps, but I don't want to have the spectator camera stuff on the HUD when I am recording people playing. What would be the best way to go about this?

cl_drawhud 0 requires sv_cheats 1

Honestly, the best way to film something like this is through other players' eyes. Turn on the minimal HUD, go spectator, and watch what people decide to do.

Use the source recording tools.

Once you have recorded a demo, you can play it back with sv_cheats on and turn the HUD off.

I want this to be an easily-playable video (as in, playable with windows media player). How would I convert the file?

NO! The best thing to do is record the demo using ("record mydemo" and "stop" (stop recording)) then after you end recording play it back using "playdemo mydemo" disable the hud and use "startmovie mydemo.avi avi" to record strait to avi using you favorite codec, and then use endmovie to stop recording. I would make sure you try some 2 min videos first to find the best settings.

No, don't use fraps! Their is a way to convert it straight into an avi. file without the use of fraps and it has a much better quality.

Let me find it.
