Is it acceptable to present a joint entry with a fellow mapper? I've got some interesting brushwork going on, and a teammate who does nice displacements, so I figured we could do this we four hands - if the rules allow it, of course.

Why? Because it uses the same textures, architecture, models, style and idea as 2fort? ;)

No but its because of the angel the screenshot has been taken :p

Ha! I think I'll be throwing in 2 entries. One entirely by myself, and another one, sort-of a collab, with my dad. Slowly working on getting him more into mapping.

Make the water falls a bit thicker and rounder, maybe make it a cylinder and stretch it out?

Also, throw in some fog/mist at the bottom of the falls for some extra effect.

Make the background more detailed, throw up some palm leaves, some boys, coconuts,crabs, a hut. And make the skybox a sunset, with the sun glistening on the river.

PS. Frame rate don't matter, so make it pretty.

I made the table at the top of the stairs descend into the platform to give it a more booby-trap-ey feeling.

i'll play around some more with the waterfalls - i don't particularly want a cylinder, but instead was going for a thin/narrow sheet.


there is a fog effect at the bottom of the falls, using smoke entities, but i'll up the number of particles so it's more visible
palm leaves etc wouldn't work, as it's alpine setting, if i were to make a full map of this, the waterwould likely fall off at the edge of what is the current edge of the map into a deep valley, and the main avenues of attack will be along the edges of the value. - sorta like facing worlds in unreal, but without the towers.

at first I didn't really want to do this because I hate CTF, but once I started, I couldn't stop! :lol:

Hold on, should we have two versions of the intel room (both inside the vmf) like, one that can be used as a prefab, and the other as the fancy showoff one?

No just one. Its not intended to be used as a prefab, thats just a secondary feature. Make it as pretty as you can, don't hold back.
