I actually created a room.

Of course, it didn't have any doors so I couldn't go anywhere but that's okay because I couldn't move anyway. Not sure why the walls didn't go all the way down but at least there was a ceiling and lights and windows with nothing to see. :w00t:

What he said. I remember following the 'my first room' tutorial to the letter. I got in, saw skybox on all the walls, including the floor. The metal fence and box I had placed in the corner were there, and I could jump on them. Good times :) Now the real trick is to advance your skills. Create 2 rooms, connected by a hallway. Also, grats.

Heh just one note, if youre player couldnt move i think its because you put your info_player_teamspawn either in the floor or actually on the floor. You need to move them up at least a few units off the ground.

If you look at decompiled valve maps the spawn points are pratically in midair!

Great! It's fun isn't it! I remember my first room. Well it wasnt actually a room it was a coast with a mansion but I had 1 fps because I didnt know what I was doing lol.
Anyway, make some maps, but dont put them on fpsbanana lol. Oh and also, read this!

And of course, ask in the steam chat for TF2maps.net and use the forums ;)
