Non-Linear Control Points
Gravel Pit with a twist! Grinder is a back-and-forth push map, similar to Badlands, that uses the non-linear layout of Gravel Pit.
There are four control points: one HQ for each team, and control points A and B. Both A and B are required in order to begin the assault on the enemy HQ.
The capture times on A and B are both extremely long, and each will generously reward the team that captures it in the form of drastically shorter respawns.
It is my hope that the competitive community would enjoy this map as well as the public, just as I had lots of fun making it.
It is my intention to detail Grinder with a green agriculture setting.

Objective:
Capture all four Controls Points to win! First capture A and B, then move on to the enemy HQ.

That's a really good idea, Icarus. I like the concept of combining Push and.. and... well, I dunno what you call Gravel Pit style. Gravel Pit style, I guess.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of this, you're definitely a great mapper, so I'm definitely going to be watching this.

I'll download it and comment back later.

(Also, rural? There aren't enough Alpine Control Point maps :()

nothing will stop me from using alpine assets :)

I'll probably use everything except the alpine rocks/cliffs.

Sounds good to me.

I suppose that the Alpine textures really shouldn't be confined to mountainous settings anyways. I mean, really, those grass textures, and the logs and trees really could just as easily be in a forest.

Doesn't cp_warehouse use this exact same control point layout? It seems slightly familiar...

You might want to take a look at that.

So what if it does?

Granary, Well, Fastlane, and Badlands all share the same CP layout.

Did you copy Gravel Pit's A and B points on purpose? They look really similar, maybe you should change them a bit.

Hmm they do look very similar. I'd suggest removing the HQ signs after theming, because having RED and BLU, or alternatively the dynamic hydro/badwater signs plastered everywhere could be a less uglier solution ;)

Of course I did, but I will probably end up changing it a bit anyways; I wanted to maintain the general feel of the points.

The map looks good so far! You don't really notice that it's too much like gravelpit while you're playing.. until the ammo and healtkits are in the exact same spots! lol, I mean really, identical. But, hey I guess you know they work where they are :p. Final point is a bit bland, but obviously this is the first alpha, so I wouldn't worry about that right now. Just one question though- what's up with the pink dev texture?

Personally I've found that Youme's Dev textures were too strong on the eyes, so I toned down the saturation.

Excuse me, didn't mean to pick on your map for being unoriginal. :) Just wondered if you knew about cp_warehouse because I thought you might be curious. ;)

Layout is looking good so far!

I love the concept, I'm going to assume shorter A and B cap times will be necessary to keep things flowing. I'm sorry though, you really DO need to change A and B's layouts, they are IDENTICAL to Gravel pits. It's not a knock on your skills, as you've proven you know how to make a creative layout, but I'd almost argue you've resorted to plagiarism. Plus even if I didn't care about that, I don't really want to play GP (I haaate that map heh), I want something new and original!

Regardless I LOVE the concept, and I know you'll do well with this one, looking good!

GPit is pretty close to perfection, can't blame you for using that as a starting point

But I know you'll come up with something unique in terms of layout:)

Great idea. Simple, but imaginative
