Is the flame effect just a simple sprite animation or a particle effect?
How can I use it on a custom candle model I've made?

I only found one instance of the lantern's use in 2fort (above the crates in Red's base near the sewer stairway) and it had no sprite or anything near it. Maybe I'm missing something obvious but I think it may be part of the model, or maybe the model calls some particle effect you can find on its own elsewhere.

The lantern's skin comes in two versions, "on" and "off" so aside from the difference in glass, you may find something else in those textures too.

The flame is part of the model, but has a weird thing: when you turn the lantern on it's side, the flame will still go straight up, what is perfectly normal ofcourse :p

In the sense that it's always facing you? If so, then it's probably a sprite. You could probably find it somewhere in TF2's files if you search hard enough.

I know there is an option to attach a sprite or particle by adding it to the .qc (a bone?)
