TF2 Getting Second CTF Map Very Soon
by Chris Faylor Jan 23, 2008 9:23pm CST
The second official Capture the Intelligence map for the PC version of Team Fortress 2 may arrive as soon as tomorrow, developer Valve told PC Gamer.

A retooled version of the existing Well area, the reworking sports the same basic layout but removes the Control Points of its other iteration, with intelligence packages placed at each team's base instead. Of course, the existing Control Point edition will still be available for play.

The studio noted that the map is tentatively planned to arrive tomorrow, January 24, but that its release may slip until next week. When the game first debuted last fall, many criticized the colorful class-based multiplayer shooter for containing five Control Point maps but only one CTF environment.

In addition to the new version of Well, Valve is also planning to implement two more maps--Badlands and Goldrush--along with a new gameplay mode, class-specific achievements and unlockable items within the next month or so.

The company has repeatedly expressed its intent to provide owners of the PC version with free game-expanding content and features, though it has yet to determine how or if the additional content will be added to the console editions.

Cool, but why not release the vmf files of the map so we could do it with every map :)

Just read this over at IGN.com:

Valve Planning More Team Fortress Content
Unlockable weapons and items, new maps and a new mode are on the way.
by Ryan Geddes

January 24, 2008 - Team Fortress 2 players will soon see loads of additional content in the PC version of the class-based multiplayer game, including new weapon and class changes, maps and a new game mode.

Valve recently gave PC Gamer a peek at some of the changes, starting with the Medic class, soon to receive a new unlockable item called the Overhealer, which can permanently double a player's health. The downside? Using the Overhealer may severely limit (or remove entirely) the Medic's ability to use the Ubercharge skill.

After that, the class will get another, still-secret healing item, unlocked by completing all the game's Medic achievements (the first item can be yours for completing half the class's achievements). Valve plans to gradually release the other classes' weapon and item upgrades, soon to be accessible through a new "Loadout" menu.

A new game mode is also in the works, one in which players must escort a cart through the map. Like a capture-the-flag mode, the more players surround the cart, the faster it moves. But if an enemy gets in range, the whole thing comes to a halt. The new mode was shown with Goldrush, one of two new maps (Badlands is the other) on the way.

For now, the new mode, upgrades and maps appear to be PC-only. We've contacted Valve to see if console gamers might eventually see the new content, but we haven't heard back just yet.
