Yes, it is very old.

I think the idea is good and it's done very well too, but the Aviator would fail completely. Maps that are mainly indoors wouldn't have much room to move around in, not to mention when you get that high up, you start to see the ugly sides of the map that you're not really supposed to see at ground level (nodraws). Not to mention it would feel weird to bump your head into the skybox.

Well I'm sure if they actually made it they wouldn't let you go any higher than you can already with a sticky jump.
