How do I make Ambient Generic louder?

I have a sound file in my map. Right now, I have it set to "play everywhere" and it's at a descent volume level at 10. However, I'd rather not have it play everywhere.

The problem is, when I don't have it to "play everywhere" even at volume level 10, it's very silent. I've tried extending the radius out, but that just makes it fade out a little slower--I still want it much louder than it is.

Is there a setting I am missing which would increase the volume of my sound?

Unfortunatly Big Lou Ambient Generic sucks. Your best bet is to use a simple soundscape.

The Ambient_Generic is pretty broken, many Valve games are hard coded around it's deficiencies. You could try multiple Ambient_Generic's to play at the same time as Youme said, or sometimes using the "raw sound file" option (I think that's what it's called) works as well.

If you have access to the source sound file, you can always amplify to just below the point of clipping. I did that for asylum and it works well.

Are custom soundscapes suitable options for one shot sounds / events?
