Map not test running from hammer

I've wanted to pick up a few orphaned maps on here, but every time i go to test run a map, the game will boot up, then will proceed to close back to hammer. I'm running hammer on a laptop, so I fear my device is just not powerful enough. If someone could give me some incite, then that would be appreciated
