Ok i wanted to make tf2 maps in hammer for the first time in my life and can't run my map

When i press F9 and press OK button the map won't start there is this window with a wall of text and a button that says "Copy to Clipboard" i already checked compile log checker and it doesn't show any errors at all i have no idea what should i do

Im starting to think it's caused by "Ultimate Mapping Resource Pack" i downloaded as soon as i watched

When you click "Run map" the map won't actually start. After you click run map and the window that pops up finishes writing that wall of text it will say "Copy to Clipboard" at the bottom. When you see this, open Team Fortress 2 and press the ~ key. Type "map <mapname>" into the console and press enter. The game should then start loading your map.

It's because on yt vids it looked like the map starts itself

you can set hammer up to do that but ive had it doing that automatically for so long that I dont remember what i did to make it happen lol

i tried to launch my 12kb map and crashed my game

vmfs are plaintext files that store map data that hammer can edit. they are not readable by the source engine. compiling your map takes this file and converts it into a version the engine can read (and does things like figuring out visibility and lighting). this compiled map is a bsp.

you need to compile your map in order to run it ingame.
