So I was trying to import this custom texture into hammer using VTFedit. After I added both the .vtf and the .vmt, hammer crashed everytime I opened the texture browser. I deleted both files and its still crashing. Help?
The texture browser can crash if it tries to load too many textures at once. How many custom textures do you have? If you can type in the text box before it crashes, I'd suggest adding a tag in the tag box. Also, how much open file space do you have on your disk? Hammer is terribly optimized, so it could be crashing due to a lack of memory

try going to tools -> options -> misc, and seeing if there are any material directories not excluded that should be excluded (eg /backpack/). Perhaps you somehow removed them
