i have to clear the teleporters up, they are not called teleporters, they are called telecuides, their one purpose is to trick you into going through them and dying, just like a death pit, that was the only way i can add a death pit in my map, but i will delete them.

A deathpit is something a player should obviously should avoid, as well as functioning as actual danger, which is why it can be a legitimate mapping tool. Mapper-placed teleporters are already sketchy enough. They generally serve as an indication that you *should* go this way, and players generally don't like getting tricked like that unless the trick is funny enough to justify whatever punishment the player must endure (which isn't really the case here). Teleporters don't function as actual danger because using a teleporter requires you to stand still for a second, and players in TF2 generally like to move around a lot, so players (aside maybe snipers, but I don't think they can even reach the teleporter) are incredibly unlikely to accidentally take the teleporter, even if pushed into it.

We played koth_onest_h3 on an unofficial server today since the main servers were down. Because it was an unofficial server, there was no feedback plugin, so I wrote my feedback in a text file. Here it is in full:

-Why do the teleporters lead into a death trigger
-No seriously, what the heck is the point of the teleporters
-Just delete the teleporters, they're less than useless, they're annoying
-The spawns are dark as fuck, please add actual lighting to it so I can see what's happening
-Please put a func_respawnroom in spawn, I'd like to be able to change class without waiting 8 seconds for respawn
-In fact, the entire map is super dark; at one point I couldn't see a pyro right in my face. Please brighten up the entire map and run around it in thirdperson to ensure that at all times, you can identify your own team and class. Rule of thumb: if there is anywhere on the map where you can't easily identify a player's team and class, you need to brighten it up
-The main ramp onto the point is a pain to walk onto
-Do you have snap to grid disabled, or are you working on a grid size of 1? Either way, it is very noticeable that no brush lines up with any other brush. Please use snap to grid and use it properly
-Why is there a dedicated sniper lane. Why does the map need a dedicated sniper lane. This does nothing to improve the map and instead completely isolates snipers from the rest of the fight. Why
-The map is just a box with stuff in it. Boxes with stuff don't make for good maps, I highly advise you try and make an actual layout.
-Soldiers and scouts completely dominate everything except the CP because they can get above everybody and stand on all the walls. That's not good. Another reason to design an actual layout instead of a box with stuff

update : i am aroun 60% done with retexturing the map, i found that somethings are best left how they were like ("candles, that "CP", That place that used to hold the telecides, this map is gonna have a lot of dirt and it is hard for me to make the map look good while making it have sense while keeping the gameplay almost the same as koth_onest_a14, also good news snipers no longer can shoot you in the spawnrooms! i am currently thinking that if i reach 2500 views i will restart the entire map all over again (it is gonna be exactly the same layout same props same everything) but in the process i will use things like snap to grid and make it even more symetrical.
tl:dr :
- 60% done retexturing the map
- map gonna have a lot of dirt and imported props/brushes from valve official maps
- snipers no longer have access to the area in the spawnroom designed for them
- i am thinking if i hit 2.5 k views i will probably REMAKE THE ENTIRE MAP FROM THE START

first of all, i know, koth_onest_h4, h5 and h6 are missing, because they aren't complete or good enough to be published, they were checkpoints to me rather than a version of a map, so when i mess up i can go back to it, secondly, I RETEXTURED THE WHOLE MAP!!! just like i promised, i did my best, now some places weren't retextured because i was happy how they were, or you wouldn't even notice, there is a trigger_hurt that will instantly kill you if you try to get on top of the billboards (or whatever you will call them, it just looks like 2 screens held together by a pencil), the reason is, the top of it is really high and can oversee the control point, and if someone reaches there, well they will have the entire map in their control basically, i am very sorry it took me too long to update you guys, and thx for all the support and help i've been given, i really appreciated that.
- retextured the map
- made a billboard and on top of it is a trigger_hurt that will kill you on contact
note : it is somewhat easy to get near that trigger_hurt please be careful, also a reminder that the roof has also a trigger_hurt that will kill you faster than a speeding bullet, so watch where you rocket jump or demo jump? anyways feel free to give feedback, Now enjoy the map!

Okay so, I've been thinking about this thread a lot recently. It has taken a measurable percentage of my daily thinking. I feel as if I have no way of expunging it from my forever tainted mind without addressing it on the forum directly. So basically, this is easily the most cursed thread I have ever read. It is truly bizarre; it's a Francis Baconian mess of incoherent ramblings from the map maker with a flurry of dissenting opinions given from other site members. Such opinions are either met with self aware agreement or aggressive opposition. More fascinatingly, the map seems to be completely tertiary to the mess that is this thread. The map only seems to be acknowledged like every 5 posts, when it seemingly should be the main focus. It doesn't help that the map seems to evolve completely separate to the criticisms given by play testers with it almost devolving more and more into chaos with every version.

I highly recommend starting anew, as you appear to be absolutely distraught in continuing this project and you've likely learned your hammer skills from this project.
However there are no obligations in hobbies and I assume mapping is a hobby of yours, so do as you wish.

Give this a good read:

Dear Nixon,

First of all, I highly appreciate you taking the time to show my mistakes to me.

secondly, I do listen to the play testers, but 2 or 3 month ago, i was somewhat self-centered and i want to apologize to everyone i called names or mistreated in any way shape or form. after koth_1st_a3, i started repecting everyone and understanding that i am not the best mapper and that other people had worked for hours and days and month, even years for maps, so i learnt that you if i dont repect you guys, i will be stuck with a box map and a bunch of unfunny jokes spread out on the map. I have to admit, that dodopo2324 was really a scummy person although he was joking, his jokes were not funny and they were just offending to staff members and members of all kinds, i dont want to delete them because i dont want to act like a youtuber making an apology video (no offence for any youtubers who made apology videos, i was talking about the sterotype that is.

now that i adressed that issue i can speak about how i started the map, the map started as a box (you are right it is a bad idea), but it was planned out on paper (i should replan it, but i am scared that it will end up badly), my idea was somewhat shown in the first version of the map (pls dont download it, because the light on that map will turn you blind if you have hdr enabled).

I always look at what the play testers are saying and make sure i am there while it is happening (playing the map), i always look at their feedback and make sure that i fix all the bugs, the only bugs i didn't finish fixing is brushes sticking out, but now i have and idea to fix it, i wont do it today tho, because i am really tired and have some homework to do, but i will fix it in the next update/ version.

Oh damn it been like 8 weeks since i came here lol, I am sorry everyone that i went radio silent. I am planning to update my map by Janurary 7th, maybe earlier, I just kinda feel bad that i was not updating for a whole 2 months. Anyways enjoy the map!!!

Ok... My promise that i will update this game on Xmas time was not forfilled. But I have free time to work on this map. I have other maps too that i will work on after i am happy with this. Ok, I know i have a lot of unforfilled promises. But i promised this will be a halloween map. And it'll be done on halloween. But i didn't specify which halloween. Which means i can forfill that promise. (I hope) I'll do my best to remake this map in my free time (which doesn't exist). Thank you for helping me reach 500+ downloads. I know that one day this map will be finished. I just got carried away with different things.

A million apologies for the long wait. Soon we'll get there.

Also I might come back to mapping. I think since I left this project I couldn't catch any sleep. But I can't find a time to start. Because This will have to be a complete rework. And I didn't play TF2 for like 9 months. I know you guys are thirsting over a new update. I had a new gamemode idea in mind but that was 9 months ago, I need to relearn everything because I had a semi good demo. Also Incase you are laughing and cringing about my old messages, me too. Anyhow, I'll try to get away from the Logo style of this map and try to have more than 6 faces to each wall I make lol. Anywayz good luck mapping guys. One day I will return to finish what I started!
