  1. Install the Source SDK
  2. Open it at least once
  3. Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sourcesdk_content\tf\mapsrc
  4. From this folder you can get the decompiled versions of:
  • Arena Lumberyard
  • Arena Ravine
  • CP Badlands
  • CP Dustbowl
  • CP Granary
  • CP Gravelpit
  • CTF 2fort
  • PL Badwater
  • PL Goldrush
  • TC Hydro
  • TR Dustbowl (Training version)
  • TR Target
Enjoy!
The maps may be outdated, beta versions, or never compiled in the first place. The folder also includes an example MVM map and a map containing the entities for the CP gamemode.

Also, they are not decompiles. The SDK maps are the original .vmfs provided by Valve. Also note that they are old and may not reflect the maps currently in the game.

  1. Read the small text
  2. Isn't that a good thing too?

I wouldn't call the SDK a defunct program. Hammer is a part of it after all.
The branch of Hammer present in the Source SDK has been broken since Steampipe, there's no real need to use it other than generating mods. Hammer's accessed by the .exes provided in game's bin folders nowadays.
