map_koth_1_ - A map which should depict modern japan in a linear symmetrical form.

Good evening everyone.

This is the first map I've made. It shall take place in modern, technologically advanced japan. Going into beta, tall buildings and gay lights will span the sky.

In the streets there should be small markets in contrast to the buildings.

I've looked out a lot for angles that may give one player too big an advantage over the other. The angled bridges near both spawns provide quite some interest, considering that they cut the view and the two routes to the mid point.

I've considered darker areas to have a lower density of players, while well lit ones are more crowded places.

Demomen may find a lot of interest in the angles near some corners.

Soldiers have a quick rollout as well as the demoman. It's near spawn...

Feel free to leave any comments and suggestions on this map.


More clips for sharp corners and stairs will be added later on.


P.S.: I'm aware that one can stand on the roofs near mid. But shhhh...

Looks fun, will download and try it out.

However, is the name supposed to be "1"? Or is that a mistake? Might be hard to find your map later on if its name is just, "1".

Alright, just a few points of feedback from a newbie, so this is just the obvious stuff to me.

- Walking up to red spawn, their left no-entry visualizer isn't working. I have this problem all the time, it's annoying lol
- Between the spawnroom and the back platform behind it, on the floor is a little gap.
- The gap for the Med Health pack on the little side red/blu platform is just barely big enough to fit into, maybe try increasing the size a tiny bit
- Are you supposed to be able to fall off the map? Some ledges have player clips preventing falling, but others are fine. There's also no killbox under the map for if you fall off, you hit the bottom and are fine
- Also, you can drastically reduce the size of the map and compile time if you don't use a big box skybox. Conform it to the map, where you can. I tried making a big box around my map to start with skybox but it really bogs down hammer and compiling.
-I bump my head as scout on some downward stairs where the ceiling is a bit too low


That's all I could come up with in the short time I ran around. Good luck with the map, I really like the theme and layout!

What's fixed it for me before is just deleting and remaking the visualizer. They sometimes like to break for me for no reason.
