It is next to impossible to find a good West Coast TF2 server that

A) Does not have RTV
B) Plays Custom and Stock maps
C) No dumb plugins including HLStats spam

Could someone give me some recommendations? The [-Q-] Clan shut down permanently :(

You're welcome on The Lion's Den at 66.63.160.246:27015, we have a mix of custom and stock, very little plugins although we do have RTV. You could always nominate your own map(s) and have everyone vote for it (cp_observatory, possibly pl_waste when it goes to beta)!

Sorry. I can do with spam and possibly even a few less-than-decent maps, but I absolutely cannot stand RTV

Check out Axl's TF2. 216.6.232.168:27015. It's a blast to play on and has good admins. Best of all, the only rtv feature it has is to bring up the map vote map.

What his server runs isn't a map nomination box, but rather, when the round ends it goes to a map called axlvote_48d. It has doors to 48 custom and standard maps, and people melee the doors to break them down. There are 3 doors, and whichever map door has all its doors broken is the next map. There are some random maps that are denoted (map of the week, arena map of the week) and has a few silly customs but otherwise all the good custom maps are on it.

I know of Axl's server, and it can be quite fun. Sometimes though, they vote for Wacky Races or something 4 times in a row.

Clan Woof just put up a new TF2 server for Customs. They even put in the exact same rotation as [-Q-] customs.

Main beef with Q was that they didn't run maps of greater than an arbitrary file size limit. Lame.

And the thing with the fake player counts. I actually think they started it...

/EDIT But I recommend 2f2f and Axl's too, both great servers!

It wasn't an arbitrary file limit. We just expect a map with a large filesize to preferm exceptionally. One example is Freight. we were worried the gameplay was not good enough to maintain a high population with 60MB. The regulars loved it, and Freight ended up helping the server instead.

Another example is Great Heights. Despite being 65MB, we gave it a try. The gameplay floored all of us and the map was excellently received. We decided to keep it.

One final example, is Frontier. Being 100MB, it had to play marvelously in order for us to want to keep it. However, we were unimpressed by it's performance and population suffered. After a few rounds we found it was not worth keeping and decided to remove it.

It wasn't an arbitrary number, it was just an example to the scale in which we are dealing with. We still try out any promising maps.
