I asked the question earlier today on group chat if it was possible to run source sdk in offline mode, and i was told no way no how, can't be done we've tested it.
I believe awesome told me this. but I was determined to find a way, and i have, so weather it is known by all but me now or not, i am going to post the instructions here now.

Step 1. log into steam online, run sdk and hammer.
step 2. exit steam do not log out, just right click and exit.
step 3. go to the Steam folder and make a copy of the clientregistry.blob and place it in a seperate file where it is easy to copy again.

you now have the key.
I needed this for my laptop so i could map when i had no means of connecting to steam so, now whenever i turn my laptop back on, I can copy the clientregistry.blob to my steam folder, then open steam, put it in offline mode and map to my hearts content, I tested this, and it indeed worked...or it did for me, hope this helps anyone who may need it

I can run Source SDK just fine offline, no tricks or workarounds. I just open it like normal.

Well, to be fair, it doesn't always work, but it does most of the time.

Interesting. Too bad my laptop's video card died. Stupid dell trash just decided to stop working.

Or you could go Steam Options and uncheck

It should be possible to run Hammer and other source tools completely offline if you launch it directly from the command line (possibly also if you use the VConfig tool from the command line): see http://developer.valvesoftware.com/...ifying_the_game_directory_on_the_command_line for more details on how to do this.

(This is a bit of a bump, but I've added this information here to aid others searching for the same info)

@ Velvet.

Since this post is soooo old Valve now allows you to run Source SDK offline without any work around.

That doesn't seem to be the case for me. Would downloading the newer Source SDK Beta make any difference?

Are you....me? I asked the same question earlier in the chat room, and I need to map in offline mode on my laptop. Creepy.

I've not tested it myself, but I remembered someone (I guess now it was Corn) mentioning in steam chat the other day that they'd been having trouble with offline mode. Then entirely separately I came across that wiki page, and thought it worth posting because of the earlier enquiry.
