It's been a while since I have used areaportals but I do remember how they work and how to make them. What I don't remember is that do I make the thickness different for buildings that are not connected to each other?

Example: I have 3 buildings in my map. Do I make the areaportal thickness the same for all 3 or should I have a seperate thickness for each building?

I'm not sure what you mean by thickness. Do you mean how much of the doorframe should be filled by the areaportal? Usually you fill the doorway.

The thicker the areaportal is, the longer it draws out the both areas while player is inside of it. If the areaportal is closing or areaportalwindow or player shoots while hes on the middle, it can cause side effects if its too thick. Usually the areaportal should cover the wall where it is at. I recommend 8 units normally, 4 if you must. You can have separate thickness in each 3 buildings if you want to.

Thank you!

Sorry it took me a bit to get back to this thread. Work nailed us with some overtime and I got the chance to get back to mapping today.

From what I remember it's the thickness of an areaportal that ties them together and started to wonder if some sets should be separated from others. The map I'm using them on is a koth map with 3 buildings. The building with the CP is in the center with buildings for spawns on each side of it. Should I make the areaportal thickness 8 for the center building, 7 for red spawn, then 6 for blu spawn or should I keep them all at the same thickness map wide? This is a detail I forgot with these things.
