Hello guys, I'm working on a KOTH map called Altitude, and I'm looking for a few overlay signs and stuff.
It's set around a radio tower, and I wanted to have some signs like RED Communications and stuff related to radio and such.

Right now what I have in mind is a logo for RED and BLU in this style:

with a radio tower on the side and "RED/BLU Communications" written with white letters, more in the style of a 1960s logo, and another sign with a warning saying "Radiation risk area. Wear tinfoil safety hats" or something that's actually funny.

I don't think it would be very hard, but I don't know how to do that stuff, so if someone could create them that would be very nice. For now, that's what I need for overlays, might need some more later. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I've been learning how to do this stuff in Photoshop now, which is what I should have done instead of asking it, but thanks to anyone Werewolf for helping me notice it. Sorry!

You can create quite at lot with free programs like Paint.net and GIMP. Gimp in particular is a sometimes called the poor mans Photoshop as it has a lot of features, though nothing in comparison to Photoshop itself.

Try downloading one or both of these programs, check some tutorials on them and just have a play around. See what you can do, even if it's not the thing you want to do right away.

I already have Photoshop, is just that I don't really know how to use it for this stuff. Particulary the sort of overlay texture those signs have to make them look like they are painted or something. Is that overlay applied in the vmt?

Signs like these are typically mostly a solid colour actually, with most of the detail/shape defined in the alpha channel of the texture.

For example, the sign in your picture actually looks like this, with minimal detail in the text:

But its alpha channel looks a little something more like this:

As you can see, the brush strokes and most of the wear is defined in the alpha channel.

One of the reasons this method is used (solid colour with detail in the alpha) is that it helps prevent artefacting around the edges of the sign in-game.

Any program with support for editing alpha channels will work for this (Photoshop, GIMP etc.. Paint.NET will not work for this)
