I have recently installed the frontline pack for my map but while trying to copy and paste these props an error sign shows, indicating that these haven't been installed. I have unzipped frontline_supply_drop_v1.2 in C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\bin\Tf2Maps
(Tf2Maps is a custom folder)
What am I doing wrong here and how can I fix it

You don't unpack stuff into there.

Everything should get put into the 'Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf' folder, or more specifically the folders within that. Best place would be 'Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom'

just did, tried to open hammer. It now says
"Tried to add C/program files//steam/steamapps/common/team fortress 2/tf/custom/maps as a search path
This is probably not what you intended
Check tf/custom/readme.txt for more info"

All models, materials, sounds, particles, etc go in their respective folders.
  • All model files will go in 'Team Fortress 2\tf\custom\models' OR 'Team Fortress 2\tf\models'
  • All materials will go in 'Team Fortress 2\tf\custom\materials' OR 'Team Fortress 2\tf\materials'
  • All sounds will go in 'Team Fortress 2\tf\custom\sounds' OR 'Team Fortress 2\tf\sounds'
If you weren't instructed to put something in a folder, then don't do it!

I just downloaded the pack myself because I was sure there were instructions included, and what do you know, there are!

In the readme.txt it reads:
=========================================== INSTALLATION ===========================================

Please refer to this helpful guide provided by Yrr of TF2Maps.net to see how to install Frontline's
custom content, as well as any similar content.

https://tf2maps.net/threads/how-to-install-content-packs-or-other-custom-content.28758/
I checked the guide myself, and I think you should have as well.

tf/custom folder requires a custom-named folder housing all the content folders within

Any folder in tf/custom named stuff like materials, models, maps, sounds etc will cause hammer to show you that message.

Path for everything should be tf/custom/<custom folder name>/...

To install frontline all you need to do is drop the Frontline_Supply_Drop_v1.1.1 folder into the custom folder.

Would you care to elaborate why you disagreed with my comment, @henke37 ?
Looking at your post, you're a bit off on the custom folder info. It should be custom/foldername/models. Foldername being anything you want, but that's what acts as the root tf folder where you then put the specific type of asset folders in. Sound/materials/models etc
