Alright, here is my 3rd map I've only been working on it for 2 1/2 maybe 3 days now. I'm leaving for the weekend and hoping I'll have some positive and criticising*(which are still helpful) posts to help me on my journey. I know I'm not that far, but if people can see anything that would look good, point it out now! It's better before something is there. I'm going to make this a non symmetrical map, except for the middle cap building. But both teams will have similar structures that look totally different which will give each side a totally unique look, not to mention make it more interesting cause you don't know exactly whats where on the other side of the map.

Alright, a little more update to what I am doing and again, any input in helpful to me. so if you see something that would look cool throw it out there. I'm open and can think of ways to fit stuff in. I have only been working on the main CP building still as I believe it is a very important part of the map and everything is centered around it. Thus making it look it's best is top on my list. Here are some pictures as of what it looks like as of now.

There's a reason the texture is "floorplate" and not "wallsupport".

hahaha, don't hate! I'm still a n00b at this! I changed the texture of them to I-Beam something. It does look quite a bot better. See! This is why I need to input. To guide me along on my way.

Okay so I took a couple steps backwards and a few forward on this update.
I got rid of the already made displacement ground until I finish all the buildings and build the ground around them rather than vise-versa.
I also changed up a few textures that weren't working out for me or other people.
I added light_env and shadow_control so things look a little more realistically lighted.
Now to the Screenshots!


Just started making this, but it's going to be Red's Spawn area. It's going to be a cliff or mountain side. Right now I'm just getting the basic outside shape.

This one should be obvious. this is Blue's Side the giant back building is where they are going to spawn from and I have finished the basic models for the 3 buildings they are going to have on their side.

Here is the Capture point building on Red's Side once the timer has lifted.

I also started adding lighting to the inside of the capture building. Here is a shot from one of the top ledges.

Again criticize me on anything you feel is necessary, it'll only help me in the end with the finished product. I still have quite a bit to go as I am not the fastest worker in the world since I'm new to this. But hey, later is better than never right? :p

^that is a lot better than your first post. Remember to change the skybox to a tf2 one in the Map Properties.

Listen to Mori! This is much better. The blue building looks weird in the choice of textures though.

well they are just rough outlines of the shapes I want them to be. those are just custom dev texture i'm using right now

Mmmm, I know exactly what your talking about now. Funny enough I actually changed the siding textures to the one in that picture as well! xD I also changed the skybox but received and error while compiling, that's in the thread up above this one though. Slowly but surely I'm gonna get everything down. If I only was more advance at creating textures... Cause I'm great at photoshop, just don't know how to do all the other dirty work...

That would be great! Cause I'm a fast learner, I just need someone to describe the process detailed like. Then once I have figured it out I'm good to go.
