Heyy, this is my first time trying to work with overlays. I "thought" I was doing it right, but when i compiled and went in game they didn't show up. This is what it all looks like, i'm trying to get it to show up on the side of that building. Anyone know what I did wrong?

Try moving the overlay around a bit. Hammer sometimes renders them weirdly.

try rotating it 90 degrees, or making sure its 8 units from the wall.

umm... well i already tried rotating it 90 degrees and that didn't really help, if an overlay is more than 8 from the edge of the wall will it not show up? what if it's right up against the wall what will happen?

select the "brush faces" keyvalue, click "pick" then select the face it's on. Should fix it.

I already did that, brush face 6509 is the wood brush behind it.

Well this is weird... today i opened up the map again and all of a sudden the brush is showing up! Doesn't make any sense, but I guess since it's working I shouldn't look into it anymore.

It happens sometimes.. you'll learn to overlook it (and a number of similar hammer render issues) and not bother baffling your brain over it untill next time you load up hammer.
