Terminal - Summer of Hale

Not even RED or BLU can escape the perils of delayed public transit this season, during the Summer of Hale.

Since waiting for their arrival trains is simply too boring, help them fight for lounging and waiting territory on this map designed with inspiration from Grand Central Station of New York, USA.

Known issues/bugs:
-------------------------------------------------------
-One of the lights outside of spawn is set to a different brightness. Please provide feedback if all the lights outside of spawn should be set to this brightness or not.
-The right hallway to B features 3 shops, whereas the left does not. Please provide feedback if both should or should not have the shops.
-Yes, the rails are set to NotSolid. This is to avoid getting stuck.
-Yes, there are custom textures. Feel free to suggest or create equivalent Team Fortress-oriented textures.

I was informed that Scouts using the winger/atomizer could access the vents for the opposite team.

Patched/Blocked using respective func_respawnroomvisualizer s.

Added:
  • Props in the main lobby to restrain sightlines (just a little)
  • Props to Bridge to restrain sightlines
  • Brushes/props in Waiting Area to restrain sightlines
  • Visible capture bounds to Waiting Area
  • Props near Subway Platform to restrain sightlines
  • Trees (outside)

Removed:
  • Lights on the sides of the bridge
  • All textures not visible to the player by normal means

Changed:
  • Glass on Resupply areas --> One way glass
  • A substantial amount of brushes to func_detail
  • Cubemaps (rebuilt)

While I don't care that you use the name, there is already a map called terminal that I made for April Fools day 2016 and updated for 2017. Mine's a different game mode so there shouldn't be any file name conflicts, but I just wanted to point it out.

Oh...
Small world, eh?
If you do not mind, I would like to keep the name as is.
Changing it would drastically harm everything- filename, cubemaps, workshop info, server level info, etc.

  • Filesize was successfully reduced, now around 33MB!
  • Cubemaps were fixed, default ones were removed (hence the lower size)
  • Recompiled with VIDE

Also in that dinning room area, maybe have the columns arches?
Hammer actually hates curves, including arches.
The smaller the arch, the better.
It is a miracle it accepted the minor arches near the entry ways to the lower platform.

I really like this map, but I feel like the rooms are too big. I mean, yeah, Terminals like this are supposed to be big. But it personally to me feels huge.
What, you want a cramped train station?
At this point, it would be a nightmare to make such dramatic world geometry changes.

Trust me you need to down scale this map most of it is just massive sightlines.

For the record, I am well aware of missing textures in the versions you download.
I have tried every method and tutorial here on TF2Maps under the sun to compile and to bake cubemaps.
I have used Pakrat, VIDE, and other tools.
I have had enough; and am not interested in redrawing this at a smaller scale from scratch.

The new posted link will bring you to the version I run on my server.
It is the most working version I have.
If you still encounter issues, let me know- I might just give this file to someone else to compile at this point.
