Welcome to TF2Maps.net! Nobody is too bad for our community- we work to accommodate all mapping skill levels and help anyone at any level improve. I recommend making a KOTH map to start- it's simple to design (you only have to make half a map) and balance (all routes lead to the point), and it's also quite popular. This is just a recommendation, though- do whatever you want, I'm not your boss. Anyway, enjoy your stay and I look forward to seeing what you make!

Don't be disheartened if your map doesn't play as well as you would have hoped for in the beginning! Mapping is tricky but also fun and rewarding. After all, we're here give feedback and help you to improve your map
