My first map, dr_DOOM!

I started map making 2 days ago, and since i play deathrun most of the time i had an idea to make a DR map.
There was no DOOM inspired deathrun maps, so why not dr_DOOM?

The Layout and traps are pretty simple right now, I'm going to add an extra stage with hell or underground base later.

Here are some screenshots and comparisons to DOOM 1 and DOOM 2.

I am not releasing the map file just yet, i haven't finished it, and i'm making the map for Blackwonder.

I didn't put any inteligences, control points or anything related to regular tf2 gamemodes at all in the map, still don't know if the map is gonna work on some servers, since i just put dr_ in the beggining of the map.
Does that automatically make it a deathrun map when played on a deathrun server, or do i have to do some complicated stuff?

The prefix just tells other people what the gamemode is. I presume deathrun has its own logic associated with it however I've never heared of it so I couldn't tell you how to make it nor how to find the information to do so.

It depends on the plugin. Some servers use the dedicated Deathrun plugin while others use the VSH mod, which means there are two sets of prefixes in use. 'dr_' for the Deathrun, and 'vsh_dr_' for the VSH maps

The Deathrun plugin can recognise both types of prefixes, while the VSH can't. Technically the VSH mod only recognises the 'vsh_' part of the prefix, so it doesn't read the 'dr_' that follows it. That is just added for the human server admins to tell if the map is designed for the actual VSH game mode, or the Deathrun game mode.

For you, you will probably want to name your map vsh_dr_doom_<versionnumber>, as that would have the widest compatibly with servers. Also as @~curlysnail said, some servers don't like capitol letters in file names, so make sure it has none and has no spaces either (use underscore _ to break up names)

In either case, both gamemode are basically a modded arena mode, in that everyone on both teams have just one life. All the mods do is make the team 1 Vs everyone else as opposed to even teams, and control who gets to be on Blue (the team that is always Hale / Death)
Because they are arena mode, you need a tf_logic_arena entity somewhere in your map. As you won't have a control point in your map (or rather, you shouldn't), set the 'Control Point Delay' to a super high number (9999 is plenty long enough)

im still playtesting it with my buddies at blackwonder
they gave me alot of new ideas for traps and some fixes

This is still not the final version

how do i make the whole team teleport to one place?
