There was no summer update this year and I just now noticed (been busy this year). Is this yet another sign that Valve developers are letting TF2 slip down to the way side?

Personally, I don't care about it. TF2 is still playable as it is and events like Blapture and our own TF2Jam filled in quite well.
They're planning on releasing the update soon (for a while now) and I can't wait until they do.
If it's good? Fine, it lives up to the hype
If it's bad? Fine, it's still an update to TF2

Kinda funny, we're still waiting for the Summer update, and Summer was basically over a week ago here.

Another week and a half until I have to go to school, so summer is sort of "over" for me

I'm rather annoyed at the TF Team for making a blog post that strongly implied that the Jungle update was happening Very Soon™ therefore us content creators should hurry up and get something out as soon as possible

And that blog post was over two months ago

And the update still hasn't happened

I just want the whole thing to be over and done with so we can all stop worrying about it and get on with our fucking lives already.

Personally i've moved past the jungle update hype already. If any of my maps get in, thats cool but i dont expect that to happen with all the stuff submitted in the recent few months. I was done before they even announced the "hurry up" as i planned ahead.

Right now i'm doing new stuff and if this update arrives, cool. It will be out before halloween hits though. Most likely next week.

Yes, people been saying next week for long time but I dont know about emails either. I did report of a bug regarding certain entity to valve and i received a reply where they said:

"We’re currently heads-down working on the next update but we should be able to get to this after that ships (and plenty of time before Halloween)"

This was nearly a month ago.

What if since a big portion of jungles is in the southern hemisphere, the jungle update will release in winter! (ie when it's summer in the southern hemisphere)

As far I know the TFTeam never mentioned anywhere the jungle update would be the summer update, it's just us an our stupid brain logic"""ayyyyyy jungle = summer theme = summer update + we are in summer so that's 1000000% gonna happen dumb dumb""", but that doesn't work like that even though valve never gave a date but hints suggesting it's soon (tm), soon can meaning the following months (back in june), no really they never mentioned anywhere it would be the summer update, so give up on that idea.
The update will come when it will come, if you are done with your jungle stuff just move on, there's no point to continue worrying about the update.
It can be released tomorrow or in 3 months, WHAT YOU CAN PLAN is that if the update is released either in September/October they have literally no time to prepare the halloween update what they will do instead is ask for help once again so if you wanna make a great contribution for halloween you can start now and put the rest of your plans for jungle update in your trash (it's probably too late to contribute btw).

To make everything simple:
-Forget about the jungle update, it will come when it's done, no summer prediction shits.
-If you wanna make stuff for halloween get on it now it's more than likely that valve will ask for help.

I still think the jungle and pyro thing are combined update, because otherwise they wouldnt have told us to get the maps on workshop. However, plans changed and they themselves are late now.

As for Halloween, you can do a map within a month, if you have plenty of free time dedicated for it and you use existing map as a base. It needs to be in the workshop early before valve goes and picks the possible maps that are getting in. This means you have roughly about 1,5 months do do something. You also need to playtest and refine the map after you think its done.

Most of us planned ahead, and its pretty clear that Valve wont have time for halloween stuff, unless they have secretly been making something out while waiting for assets and such to finish the pyro/jungle related update.

If you didn't start your H'ween projects in the past couple months, you're already behind. Don't rush it. Everyone can easily spot a poor/rushed H'ween map.

You underestimate my power haha- hahahaha -HAHA

Yeah, i'm dropping my more ambitious plans and re-theming one of my good maps.

It's understandable. The developers were busy developing a card game.
