Something weird happened to my map while working on it.

So,
I was creating my first map after following Crash's tutorials and reading the Valve dev wiki threads. I created spawn rooms and it was kinda of a test map really.

The thing is I was just finishing the map, then, I created the final entity tf_gamerules and the logic and stuff.
I used the entity tool and created a new one, changed it to prop_dynamic for the doors.
Pressed apply and EVERYTHING IN THE MAP CHANGED INTO prop_static.

So, I had to redo the whole map again.

My question is, What was that and how to act if I encounter it in the future.

Thank you.

save often

if you had the whole map selected, and hit "to entity" and changed it to a prop-static (or had it as your default)

Unlikely, but possible. entering map, and then hitting properties selects the whole thing, that could have done it. otherwise I am stumped.

The Thing is, I just selected this entity. nothing less, nothing more.

magic

my hammer crashed earlier when I opened the output tab of an entity. Hammer is like flying the space shuttle, but the only person who can run space age tech is your slightly senile grandpa. Not that you don't love him, but he does things the hard way, and falls asleep often.

but really, just save often, and increment you versions correctly. you will break something, and not find out till it is too late to fix it, and with no previous version to fall back on you will start crying. proper saving will save your butt.
