Night dreams and mapping

One week ago it happened first time. In my night dream I was playing MvM Bigrock that had different layout in the cave. I was really excited because it was quite cool and the idea of making another map based on a dream (vindemine was dream map) was exciting. Naturally I woke up and start mapping... but that was still in the dream. Even though I didn't use Hammer but moved entities and geometry ingame, I thought I was awake. Interestingly, as per usual I didn't quite remember the layout when I was really awake but I didn't remember it in the dream either.

That would be nothing if I didn't experience it again. This night I was making my own map. The map a bit like Canyonpush in a way that it was desert town with train going through it but this time it had had a lot of industry based on the amount of tracks. Basically it was like if Coaltown and real trainyard had a baby. I like desert map so it was exciting but oh man, the skybox was the most impressive skybox ever. It was so realistic but still TF2 style. Dream-me was thinking how sad it was that players couldn't enter the skybox. Actually I think I hadn't made the environment and the town, I was just building payload track there. The editing was very natural. I could see the brush borders without actually seeing them and selecting a brush added blue borderlines and resizing it by dragging showed the brush size. Definitely good way to make Hammer VR (@Layl).

I think I lost the point of this post a while ago. Mapping dreams are same time so exciting because you can consciously edit your environment but so sad too because you may remember the layout of the map but lose the essence when you wake up. I remember the layout clearly but it is just "meh" without the idea and visuals, the essence.

If you want to remember your entire dream, get hypnotised, that stuff lets you dive deep into your subconsciousness.
Or so I've been told

Perhaps not quite the same, but in the haze of still waking up this morning, I just had a eureka moment. I'll get back to you guys on if it works out.

It's funny this thread was made because last night I had a dream about a map I made that was being tested on an imp. It was a 2cp arena map with a middle combat area between them. The middle looked like mirage from CS:GO but flipped, with the sniper balcony being on both sides. The lower mid area was wider and had some sort of structure in the center. I remember dying at mod every time to an awp (even though it's tf2) and spectating my teammates. Some were at mid, some were at different capture areas, and some were in these weird dark tunnels with little lights in them, like underpass in mirage but much more complicated, almost like a sewer.

People were talking in voice chat, I can't remember who, but I was talking about how I made the map while playing. Kinda weird but I forgot a lot of the details before I could write this lol

Edit: Oh yeah, after my map was played, it went to a next map, which was a ctf map that took place in a colloseum, and startacker said he made it in voice chat.

I had a dream about a CTF map set in a canyon.

I woke up and decided to try to map out the layout. It was basically Double Cross.

i had a dream for a TV show and a CS:GO map in the same night, whats funny was the TV show was colorful and animated, and the CS:GO map was this gloomy and depressing hostage scenario.

huh...

You can try mapping during a lucid dream, that sounds interesting. I've been getting into it lately, but mastering keeping the dream up, manipulating objects etc is quite hard. You can, however, build entire maps from the ground up with perfect detailing and decent layouts in matter of seconds. Would have tell that subconscious thing that builds your dreams and makes up stories to build a map and teleport you to it. Manipulating it and changing details, on the other hand, is a hard thing to learn for most, so at the beginning it would probably be a complete dice roll, and if you don't like something you subconsciously created, you can only roll again. I'm still a beginner is this lucid dream thing (I have troubles closing a door with my mind, though I can fly and spawn people already), but I think I'll try dreaming a map tonight. Hopefully something comes up, but my mind likes to fuck with me, last time I was in a lucid dream my brain decided it would be cool if I had one leg lol.
