I am trying to get grass to appear from a grass texture, but cant seem to make it work. If anyone can walk me through this process I would be very appreciative!!

Make sure you have the right vbsps in map properties, best way to find them is check the vbsps of an decompiled official map, where you want them from, like sawmill.
