Yeah, only X active at once and respawn a random one once more than (total-X) are destroyed, I think.
Actually now that I've written that out, it seems like it would be easy enough to recreate. Just have an output whenever one is destroyed that... uh... triggers a check on the total number active? ...and then... OK I know this can be done using logic entities and stuff but I never learned how to work with those. If it were an actual script, it would be child's play.
