how to I place the control points? I've watched the tutorials by crash but every time I try to place one it shows up as an error
I didn't set up any logic yet. I was just trying to place them down to get a sense of scale/Did you setup logic or something? Excuse me if I'm wrong, I haven't been on this site for a while.
Yeah. It shows up like that in hammer. I haven't tried compiling it.So you mean the prop appears as one of those red flashing ERROR props? And is that in Hammer, or in the game itself?
I'm assuming something in the TF2 files messed up unless Hammer can't find the model itself.Yeah. It shows up like that in hammer. I haven't tried compiling it.
how can I fix it? would verifying the game cash do anything?I'm assuming something in the TF2 files messed up unless Hammer can't find the model itself.
I cant even find it in the browser. I've just been typing cap_point_base.mdl into the world model box.Are you sure you even picked the right prop in the first place? Like, it showed up correctly in the model browser?
You might want to try quitting Hammer and verifying the game cache. Especially if you remember ever having Hammer running while Steam downloaded an update to the game.
Yeah, that'll be why it won't be working...I cant even find it in the browser. I've just been typing cap_point_base.mdl into the world model box.
well thanks. sorry for taking your time. I'm new to the map making scene.Well there's your problem! You have to type the folder it's in too. The cap point pad is located in props_gameplay, as Mic said. And for future reference, if you remember even part of a prop's official name, type it into the "filter" box, and it'll show only the props that have that somewhere in the name (provided you're not inside a folder).
I got to hammer using the same method crash did in his first tutorial.you are using the hammer found in steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\bin, right?
We've all been there, don't worry too much about it!well thanks. sorry for taking your time. I'm new to the map making scene.
