I'm not a Mac specialist, but from what I read over the web (and what mac users I know tell me), it's not even worth bothering with Direct3D on Mac. So drpepper's solution sounds like the only reasonable one.

well steam works on crossover, but I tried source sdk on crossover, but tht doesn't.
Was just wondering if there might be a version for mac, but obviously not.

bootcamp is default on mac, so I might do it like that. That would also allow me to play more windows games.

I don't own a mac, however at one point i had source sdk working on linux. It worked out rather well. Note i said had, once i upgraded my gpu i cant get any 3D windows app to work under nix. It may be possible just do some research into it gpu type etc. I know that hammer can work with wine, and crossover. Just takes some work. However when i did have it working, it was not exactly stable. So i would still recommend as drpepper stated dual booting xp. I know its not what you want but if you can its your best bet. Like i stated it may be possible to get it to work. But how well is the question. Again i have no experience with mac, but my understanding is the underlying wine application is identical.
