This is not an ad, it is a genuine recommendation of some great freeware.

Hey everyone. Have not posted in a while. My old PC broke. I got a new one and I am eager to get started with mapping again.

I had a copy of Photoshop on my old PC, but lost it. Not wanting to spend cash on it or Paint Shop Pro, I went searching for a free program that would suffice for my custom texturing needs. What I found not only fulfilled my hopes, but absolutely blew them away.

It is called Paint.Net and is setup and functions much the same as Photoshop, but is completely 100% free. It is not malware, it is recommended by PC World, and is available for download from download.com.

Check it out here: http://www.getpaint.net

If you don't have the money for Photoshop and/or are too honest to pirate it check this out. Seriously, I'm not a paid spokesperson, I was just so impressed that I had to share it with my fellow mappers.

It's great to be back.

I've used Paint.net for ages and I love it! Much simplier than PS but you can do pretty much the same things, even if PS has some advance options which paint.net doesn't.

It's great to see that people have a way to make good work without having to shell out hundreds to thousands of dollars. Not all of us are made of the moneys. Cheers to this :)

Heh, I've been using Paint.net for a good while now. It works great for saving images between multiple formats, the file size estimator has come in very handy at times.
