So I've been mapmaking for over a year now, and have worked for over 150 hours on maps. But then the other day while I was working on a map I for some reason looked at the magnifier tool and I realized I had never really used it ever. I think I used it once when I first tried to use hammer and was just pressing buttons. I really do not understand how I have managed to pass over that button for so long without even realizing it was there. So what I wanted to know is if anyone actually uses this frequently and if it has any helpful uses.

It does the same thing as using the scroll wheel to zoom in and zoom out in the views. This can also be accomplished by pressing + or - as far as I know. It might be useful if you want to quickly jump zoom into a specific part of the 2D views, but you can use the other ways as well. It's up to you on which method you want to use.

Scroll wheel is more precise. If you need to jump from one scale to another, you can just use number keys or scroll quickly which takes less than a second. I imagine the tool near useless unless it has additional features like camera tool has.
