This is a sneak peak of the intro part of my new map called Fathoms. Fathoms is an underwater style control point map, and also the name of the city being controlled by RED. This video only shows an idea on what to expect (like the neat underwater shader effect), but doesn't show you the final version whatsoever. Things may change drastically, in terms of lighting, props, and miscellaneous effects. For instance, the bathysphere (the underwater vessel) and the buildings at the end of the video, are just placeholders.

Fathoms is far away from being released, so don't expect anything new too soon. Working on other projects also takes a lot of time.

Yes, I've been inspired by Bioshock.

I'd like to know what you think. :)

I knew it, when i read the name i immediately thought of Bioshock :p Oh and good job ;)

Yes, a Bioshock-esque environment is coming to your TF2. :) I've heard a lot of people wanting to play or create an underwater/Bioshock level for TF2, but weren't able to do that. So I thought let's give it a try myself, because I'm really intrigued by its style.

So how will it work for multiplayer? The whole team is in the water lift or...?

Well, yes. At the start of the map, BLU spawns in the moving bathysphere. They all have to enter Fathom City that way, it's part of the assault. But as you can see, the bathysphere is not big enough to carry a whole team. I was thinking of increasing its size, but I didn't feel comfortable doing that. A bathysphere looks much better when it's small, in my opnion. One can carry 5-6 players, so I have decided to divide the team into three seperate bathyspheres.

RED spawns in their city, obviously. They can prepare themselves for BLU's big assault.

As the creator of this map, I can definitely say that this project has been dead for years, and I have no plans to resurrect it. Perhaps someone else can take up the torch. Hopefully this will stop any unnecessary bumps years from now. :)
