Hey Guys,

Hope this is in the correct section (Could'nt find anywhere else to put it) but I was wondering if anyone has seen this in Hammer before:

glitch.jpg

Basically if you can't see what I am on about then take a look at the text in the top right window. The text has gone to bits. Not sure if its my new graphic card (ATI Radeon 4870 1GB) or something else. Really annoying as I can barely make out the characters.

Anyone had this before.

Also can anyone tell me what rendering technique Hammer uses as again it could point to a problem with the graphics card. What I mean is, how does Hammer render all the windows and textures etc, OpenGL maybe ??

Thanks In Advance, Regards

IMO Vista + Hammer is crap. Try changing the start options with backward compatibility.

I'm running on Vista and while some applications give me trouble, Hammer isn't one of them.

Hey,
Thanks for the input Guys, Have tried everything I can think of but still no luck. Hammer has been working fine up to the point I changed my graphics card from an Nvidia 8800GTX 768 to an ATI 4870 1GB. Guess its something I will have to live with. Thanks again Guys, Regards

Just a wild guess, could be your resolution set to something other than your monitor's native resolution. Likely that it's something else though.

Hi mate,

deffo not a resolution problem. I have tried them all. Seems a very common problem with the new range of ATI cards and the drivers. Guess its a waiting game until ATI pull their finger out and get the damn drivers right.

Hey chris, I've just found my new pc gives me exactly the same problem... I'm on the ATI radeon sapphire 4850 HD

Must be something to do with our card type, since I'm pretty sure I'm on the latest drivers and you suggest you are too I hope they release some new drivers in the future that fix it.

All HD4000 graphics cards serie has this problem. I've hear a Valve guy on Steam forums who said they were going to fix it.

not sure what you're talking about? unless I'm very much mistaken it was in mapping discussion when I posted and thats where it should be and thats where it is...... its not off topic and its certainly not a wip thread, or forum feedback.....

You and me both Tim, not a mega problem more annoyance. I have tried every ATI configuration known to man and still its the same. I have tried all drivers that will run our cards and still the same. I raised a support ticket with ATI/AMD and when I went to see if there was any news it had been deleted :(

Fingers crossed something is sorted soon.

Immortal, sorry mate I wasn't sure where to originally put this and so thought off-topic was the place. Again sorry mate. :blushing:

most things made by valve just plain don't support ati cards fully...not clear on the reason...but it effects some things in hl2, like...the 1st stage can glow bright white for no apparent reason...it would make sense that it effects things like this too

so...all i can say is shame on you for replacing a nivida card :p

EDIT: ...I just happened to glance back and see that 2 people are replacing 8800 GTXs...why? Im on a GTS which is worse, and i still run everything above 60fps at maxed settings...over 90 for source stuff...

I've also got this problem, however it's not only limited to WIndows Vista, I'm on WIndows XP Sp3.

I've got a HD4850 from Sapphire and of course...Running Dx9.

btw, the best place to post about hammer problems is the steam forums...

You can sort of work around this by playing around with the 3d settings from CCC.

-it is possible to cause these text problems on Orange Box games... (more specifically Tf2)
