Greetings. As some of you from the Chat may have known, I'm making a payload map by the name of pl_crowfoot. Thought it was about time to post a thread, so here you go.

Name: pl_crowfoot

Location: Crowfoot Glacier, Banff National Park, Canada

Conflict: BLU runs a Transcontinental Railroad that ends at the Crowfoot Glacier for tours and sightseeing. BLU notices a decrease in tourists, and an increase in Oil drilling around the Glacier. The drilling has been commenced by none other than rival-corporation RED under the name of Atlas Oil. BLU, in an attempt to regain tourists and cash, stockpile their small amount of munitions and push them into RED's major Refinery. If BLU succeeds, they will gain more than enough sightseeing tourists from the Explosion. If RED defends their Refinery, Pipelines will expand into BLU territory and drain the Park of Oil.

Completion: Everything is one sixth of the way done.

Honestly, I think that last picture of the Sawmill is the best view I've ever accomplished in a map.

Note that I am only on my PC on the weekends, so any editing requested will have to wait. I can take texture requests though.

Please give comments and critique! Please keep this map alive, unlike all the ones before it.

I have to say, the white rockwall looks absolutely great.

The spawn doesn't look so great- why have it drop off, and why the weird geometry? BLU is industrial, not art deco with wooden trim.

The sawmill looks flimsy, the walls are pretty thin and that big doorway the track goes through needs a frame.

For that overlay, make a big rectangular, thin brush for a sign board, put the overlay on that, and skew it slightly to one side.

Great work, but finish the layout. Don't want a crappy map that looks terrific. Make a good layout, then work on visuals.

I'll make a dev-textured Gameplay version next weekend. I only map, and have access to a PC, on the weekends. I should be able to have it ready for the first playtest either this weekend, or next.

You don't have to use dev textures to make a layout. I very rarely do anymore as they make it harder to imagine how things will be detailed and, well, normal textures just look a lot better and motivate me to get the layout done so I can start detailing. :p

I'm not sure what you did with your cliff, but it looks fake. Like it's made of soft clay. Not very rocky.

Alpha1 of Crowfoot looks like it'll be up in two weeks or so. I didn't preorder Left4Dead, I just got the public demo. That'll expire, and I'll have to wait 'til Christmas to procrastinate again.
