I have searched the net far and wide looking for this, but cannot find it.

I need to know about how big a pl map should be, the path takes a kind of u shape and only has three points (not including the final one). Everytime I make something, it is always horrifyingly disfigured, the map is too big, but some areas look cramped while others are too big. I know this really depends on a map to map basis, but just a general guideline would be helpful.

thanks in advance.

Well, there really is no set size, its more about what looks good and fits into gameplay. But I would recommend opening up Goldrush or Badwater for referencing purposes.

You can place character models in your map to give a sense of scale. Many people use a heavy model to start, and then compile it and look around their map to see if it is too large or small.

Similarly, different props can be used to size doorways, etc.

welcome to mapping :) here what I found helped me at the start - put in 1 player entity - that way you can do a direct comparison to what you're making & the size of the player who will be in the map - handy for tight spaces - move the dude around the map as you go.

Thanks...

I hadn't though of that, ill definitely have to try that kind of thing. I have also spent some time looking around at some of the user made maps here (only looking... no stealing) and have gotten some pretty good ideas from that as well.
